Dr.B.Sivanthi Adityan


        Dr.B.Sivanthi Adityan was a multifaceted personality with each facet representing the peak of achievement in different fields. He was a renowned industrialist, newspaperman of high repute, dedicated educationist and unassuming philanthropist. He was the founder president of the college and held high positions in various organisations and sports bodies at national and international levels.

           In recognition of his service in the field of education, Dr.B.Sivanthi Adityan has been conferred with honorary doctorate degrees by Madurai Kamaraj University, Annamalai University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, University of Madras and Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai. In appreciation of his contribution to sports and education, Government of India awarded Padmashri.

           Dr.B.Sivanthi Adityan was an outstanding sportsman during his educational career. As a member of National Cadet Corps (N.C.C) he had the honour of winning the best cadet award. As a proficient marksman, particularly in clay - pigeon shooting, he won many laurels at state and national level.

v  The International Olympic Committee conferred upon him “The Olympic Order of Merit” in recognition of his outstanding services rendered for the development of sports & education in 1995.


v  He was conferred with “Olympic Council of Asia” Award at the Asian Games held at China (2010).


v  He was the Executive Vice President in International Volleyball Federation and Asian Volleyball Federation.


v  He was the Vice President in Olympic Council of Asia.


v  He served as Life President of the Indian Olympic Association and President of Volleyball Federation of India till his demise.


v  He was the President of Tamilnadu State Olympic Association.


v  He was the Vice Chairman, Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu.


v  He was the Honorary Secretary of Madras Riffle Club.


v  He was the Senior Vice President of Tamilnadu Shooting Association and Tamilnadu Equestrian Association.


v  He was the Former Chairman of Madras University Tournaments & Sports Committee.


v  Director, “Daily Thanthi” Tamil daily newspaper from 1959 to 2013.


v  He was the Chairman of Sun Paper Mills Limited, Cheranmahadevi, Tirunelveli District.


v  He was the Director of The India Cements Ltd., Chennai, The India Cement Capital & Finance Ltd., Chennai and Aruna Sunrise Hotels Ltd., Chennai.


v  He was the Chairman of Aditanar Educational Institution, Tiruchendur and the President, Managing Committee, Nallalagu Polytechnic, Chennai.
